Monday Munchies: BTB

On April 1st 2021, a new restaurant opened near me called BTB Woodfired Pizza Bar and Grill and this place is no joke. I have been here a handful of times since then, and it is my go to restaurant when anyone asks where I want to eat, especially if they have never been. I'm super surprised that I have yet to write a Monday Munchies for them, I had to go back and check because I was so sure that I must have by now. Whoops! Definitely no post for them. So this one might be a bit of a longer one just to showcase the range this restaurant can pull off. I've had everything from brunch to lunch to dinner from here and have yet to be disappointed. I think the only thing I didn't like were the pizza logs, but those are hit or miss for me anywhere, definitely not a go-to appetizer for me anyway.

But, you know what my go-to app order is? Pretzels. And BTB's pretzels are the best I've ever had. They're the right balance of buttery and salty and the texture is wonderful. The cheese sauce and mustard are pretty standard, I don't think either one is much to talk about, but it says a lot that I enjoy these pretzels without even having to put either on them. I still find myself dunking into the cheese here and there because, man what a perfect combo, but more often then not I'll happily munch on them without. Other than the pretzels, my favorite thing at BTB is their brunch.

Yes, I'm jumping around a bit because I still have a lot to say about their lunch and dinner options, but I've decided to showcase my favorite things first and go from there. And it's my blog so you can't tell me what to do! Okay, back to the food, I have been here for brunch twice now, and both times I got the same thing. Sorry, not sorry. Should I try other things, absolutely, but these two dishes are SO good that I just crave it as soon as I'm looking at the menu. But, honestly, everything sounds delicious and very likely is. Both times Bestie has come along with me and we've just split both so that we could have both things that we've wanted- chicken and waffles and biscuits and gravy. Plus, of course, the buy one get one free mimosas. Even splitting, it's way too much food that leaves me full for pretty much the rest of the day.

When I tell you that this chicken is crunchy I mean it's like a mini earthquake in your mouth. It's that kind of crispy where you feel like everyone in your vicinity can hear each bite you take. But inside? Incredibly juicy and tender. On top of that it's seasoned beautifully too. The waffle and syrup are fine, I'd be lying if I said I thought the star of a chicken and waffles dish is the waffles, I mostly want the chicken to be bangin' with a nice waffle to support it and balance it with sweetness. Which this pulls off well. The waffle is thick and sturdy to hold the chicken, with big pockets to cradle the syrup, while still being light and fluffy with just a hint of sweetness to counter the big time savory flavor of the chicken. And don't get me started on these freaking biscuits because HOO AH, these things are knock your socks off good. For some they might be too seasoned, especially if you're used to what you can get around the Rochester area, it's so hard to even find these on the menu here and when you do they're pretty bland. You can even see the pepper in the picture from far back. WOW. The flavor is just off the charts and the biscuits are similar to the waffles in that they are thick and sturdy to support being smothered in that thicc gravy, while still being soft and pillowy somehow.

To be honest, I can't even recall all the things I've eaten here, but again, I do know that everything save for the pizza logs have been absolute winners. I've had everything from the "simple" homemade tomato soup and grilled cheese to their more inventive specials and to other classics like a pulled pork sandwich, fried chicken sandwich, steak quesadilla, and a southwest salad. It's all been delicious. They even have chicken french, chicken parmesan, fish fry, woodfired pizza, and a variety of mac and cheese options. Oh! The fries here? Scrumptious. Its hard to mess up a fry but I also feel like its hard to have a consistently good fry and these are always on point. Always perfectly cooked (crispy!), always seasoned well, and are enjoyable with or without ketchup.

I actually just went at the time of writing this for lunch and had a chicken parmesan sandwich that was served on toasted garlic bread. Oh my word. Very tasty. I think the actual sauce needed a little something else to it maybe more seasoning or a little kick to it? I'm not sure. But the chicken itself and the bread were both on point. The bread was perfectly toasted and seasoned and the chicken was also pretty crispy but still juicy and tender, as I've come to expect from their fried chicken dishes. Also the fries were actually even better than they usually are. I don't know if they're using a new recipe? It was almost like they were those battered french fries or something. Wowza. Also, I just have to say that the pretzels were once again a shining star- so delicious man!

BTB also boasts having 40 TVs for sports viewing, live bands that perform, outdoor dining with firepits and heaters, as well as great mixed drinks with a wide selection of beers and ciders. Located right at the Greece Ridge Mall on Ridge Rd; a busy street with many shops, restaurants, stores, and other businesses. Getting into the mall area is easy and is nice to get you off the main road as that area of the mall is fairly quiet. They're open Mon-Sat11am-11pm | Sunday 10am-11pm with Brunch offered from 10am-2pm. You can check them out at www.btbroc.com
