Monday Munchies: Taichi Bubble Tea

Originally spurred by a craving for bubble tea, Lindsey, Jolee, and I popped over to the Mt. Hope location in Rochester NY. Smack dab in the middle of "College Town," a busy street lined with restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and some local businesses; built up around a Barnes and Noble as a place where students from the many nearby colleges can grab their books, school supplies, and spend some time mingling at the many businesses.

We picked Taichi Bubble Tea because they had the most options for my lactose intolerant friends. I got the passion fruit tea with traditional boba and my friends ordered milk crush's, made with almond milk also with traditional boba. It's texture was similar to that of a milkshake and for some reason only came in a size large. Man, they're not messing around with the sizes. This thing was huge. I can't even remember if they finished theirs.Mine was super yummy and the boba were perfect, though sometimes stuck together so you'd get a whole slew of bobas in one go!

We were also surprised to find out that they had ramen! I'm on a never-ending quest to find good ramen in Rochester, but with no avail so far. Splitting a big bowl of ramen between the three of us was the perfect decision, picking a medium spiced broth and adding two extra eggs so we could each have one. The pork in this ramen was SO tender and the broth was delicious!! Serving size is gigantic though so make sure you go in hungry, or with a friend willing to split. Taichi Bubble Tea probably has the best ramen I've had in Rochester to date to be honest. I don't know what's up with our ramen scene, but it something I didn't expect to miss from Virginia! They have a couple ramen shops that taste very authentic there and serve onigiri...which is another thing I can't seem to find in Rochester!

The interior is cute, decorated with bamboo and pandas, booths lining the windows and really cool tables in the center. Their are outlets everywhere and board games stacked up on a shelf, with a long table in the middle of one side of the restaurant that would probably be great for playing one of those games with a bunch of people.

Definitely check this place out for some excellent ramen and to get your bubble tea fix. I've already gone back once and will probably go again the week this quarantine is finally over!!
