Small Business Saturday: Cats and Critters

Cats and Critters, located right off of Park Ave in Rochester NY, is a veterinarian specializing in cat and small animal care. Dr. Hach, who also happens to be the hospital's director, takes phenomenal care of my little rabbit Mimi. In fact, this place is the only one I trust in the area to take my little nugget to. They are knowledgeable, professional, kind, and never judge you (especially when I first brought her in and had no idea what I was doing as a new bunny mom!) or pressure you into things you don't need. I wish there were more veterinarians who were well-versed in the care of lagomorphs (the fancy terminology for bunny) and other small mammals, only because when emergencies happen, the emergency animal hospitals often aren't sure what to do with her or know the right questions to ask. It's of so stressful! And Mimi likes to put me through the wringer, constantly having bouts of GI Stasis, to the point where I can tell a vet what she needs if they don't know! Silly bun.

Besides cats and rabbits, the wonderful staff at Cats and Critters also see hamsters, gerbils, ferrets, guinea pigs, chinchillas, rats, mice, hedgehogs, and sugar gliders. It also says on their website that they have experience with non-traditional pets like prairie dogs and degus, so if you think you have a pet they can take care of, contact them to see! However, they do not treat reptiles or birds, but if that's something you need, they are able to give recommendations to vets that do. Cats and Critters also offers a full range of services, though I can only attest to the actual veterinarian care. I have taken all of my cats here, and Mimi, for their check-ups as well as having had Mimi's spay procedure done here. They always do an excellent job and were very patient with an older cat I had who hated to vets. Besides your average vet stuff, they can also run diagnostic testing, surgical procedures, dental care, internal medicine, veterinary pharmacy, behavioral counseling, nutrition/weight management, and life stages care. They also have boarding now! I recently moved back to Rochester and I don't think they had this when I lived here before. Look how cute it looks/sounds: https://www.catsandcritters.com/veterinary-services/boarding.html like a mini vacation for your little meowser. There's even a playroom. Holey moley.

If you recently acquired a cat or critter and need to find a vet, would like to get a new vet, recently moved here and need a recommendation, or any other reason, I highly recommend the sweet and caring staff at Cats and Critters to take care of your little furbabies!
