Located on the corner of West Ridge Rd and Long Pond Rd in Greece NY, is a little combination coffeehouse and music school in what looks like just a big house. Inside feels homey too, a small area for sitting and enjoying your purchase either on your own or with friends in a cozy atmosphere. The walls are covered in art from local artists and even some of their school of music instructors, cute signs, and decorations that change with the season. These touches always make me feel like I'm going over to my mom's house for a cup of coffee or some lunch.
My friend and I used to play tennis at the little park located right next to the cafe, which is how I even found out about it. We'd finish up in the middle of a blistering July or August day and pop over for an ice cold smoothie and a little snack. They are a local business that also supports many other local business buy selling their products in lieu of big name companies, such asd Karma water and Fiz soda. They also sell their own coffee beans and ground coffee, and use that for their coffee drinks. New Roots offers a variety of drinks, both hot and cold, caffeinated and decaffeinated, coffee and non-coffee, and your typical coffeehouse fare- baked goods (provided by yet another local company, Starla Bake and Brew) and breakfast sandwiches.
Because the music school is also in the building, you may get the chance to hear some live tunes as you sip your coffee! They also hold events like open mic night and live music from both students and professionals. Their outdoor patio is a great place to sit and listen, enjoy your drinks and food, and soak in the warm sunny weather while we have it! Looking through their calendar, I also noticed that they do book signings, Halloween parties, and Mother's Day events, so there's sure to be something going on that you'll enjoy. As of right now, New Roots Coffeehouse is taking advantage of the downtime they've unwillingly acquired to freshen up their space, and I can't wait to see what they do with it.
