Sunday Suites: Casa Soleil

Most of the accommodations I booked in Ecuador were through either Airbnb or Hostelworld. I freaking love AirBnb, but I know that a lot of people, especially recently after the pandemic, have been having issues with them and that a lot of cities around the world are cracking down on rented spaces for AirBnb. But, thus far, 90% of my experiences with the site have been extremely positive, which is a much higher percentage than my experiences with hotels. I just hate hotels now. ANYWAY, that all being said, my reservation for Casa Soleil was made through Airbnb and it was pretty great. The only negative thing was the construction going on, on the building next door, but the property I stayed at had literally no control over that so I can't hold that against them. Besides I was up early anyway for activities and came back after they'd already gone home for the day, so it didn't really effect me.

I really had a hard time finding this place, especially at night but I have no idea why. I just remember getting super lost and having to ask some locals where to go. Once I got it firmly into my brain, it was actually SO easy. I don't know what my issue was! hahaha. As for the room itself, it was super nice. Two beds, a kitchen, dining area, filtered water, and a little table outside to eat at; all while being about a 5-10 minute walk from the main part of town so it was far enough a way to be quiet but close enough to get anywhere I wanted to go quickly by foot.

I loved this space, it felt so homey, cozy, and comfortable and I would have loved to stay here for longer. I truly enjoyed the layout and the style of the place and the beds were super comfortable. I believe this is the hotel that was like...the shortest walk from a brewery, called Zaroa, that had some interesting flavors like chocolate, lemongrass, banana and guayaba. I'm allergic to hops, so I sadly could not partake, but I bought a couple a bottles to bring back for Bestie and my Dad. Surprisingly, the bottles made it through the whole rest of the 3 weeks I was there. I was so worried they were going to bust. But I definitely didn't see them once I got back to Ecuador's mainland so I was glad I snagged them. The brewery itself looked really nice, like a great casual pace to sit and enjoy a brew. If you've been there or had one of there beers- leave a comment below!

At Casa Soleil they have snorkeling gear for rent at the main office, I think it was like $5 or so at the time of my reservation, though the price may be different if/when you decide to go. The lady at the office was also quite sweet and helpful. I don't think I took a picture of it, but the shower was beautiful! And the towels were so plush and cozy, as were the beds!

If you'd like to stay here too, you can find them at their website, AirBnb and Booking to make your reservations!
