Nestled in next to a field in East County Clare Ireland, are a series of 6 cottages that vary from 1, 2, and 3 bedrooms. The outside looks cozy and inviting with colorful flowers adorning the pathways and bright walls of the cottages. Its a bit in the middle of nowhere, so having a car to get here is essential. I wish we hadn't been so busy exploring so we could have sat and enjoyed the place a bit more. Please reserve time to do this! We ate breakfasts outside on the picnic table in our little backyard while warm breezes tousled our hair and little birds peeped and tweeted on the fence, probably hoping for a couple of morsels. But we did not get to enjoy the gorgeous stone fireplace at all and apparently there is also a sauna on the property. Really regretting that I didn't know about that! Especially after some of our long days of hiking.
We stayed in the two-bedroom cottage and it felt very modern, yet simple at the same time. We had everything we needed and more; a dishwasher, fireplace, fridge, stove, clothes washing machine, dryer, large dresser, writing desk, and coffee maker. There is no wi-fi, but if you're happy staying out in the countryside you're probably someone who doesn't need it 24/7 anyway. My bed was ridiculously comfortable, but my travel mates were not as thrilled with theirs, sometimes getting the smaller room has its perks! Each room also had its own bathroom, which was fantastic to not worry about how long another person takes or how long you're taking getting ready! Every room was open and bright, the big windows and sliding doors allowing the sunlight to pour in and the vaulted ceilings added a bit of elegance to the space.
I would highly recommend these cottages as a great place to unwind after a busy day out and about, or if you're just someone who enjoys staying off the beaten path where things are a bit quieter. You can check them out and make reservations on their website or drop them an email info@danganlodgecottages.com.
